Body found in local road in search for missing teen Libbi

Police have found a body in Kirkcaldy in their search for missing teenager Elizabeth Toledo, 17.

Officers discovered the body of a female within a disused scrapyard at the junction of Denburn Road and Smeaton Road at around 2.20pm yesterday.

The body was found close to where Elizabeth, known as Libbi, went missing from on Monday at about 1pm.

Formal identification is yet to take place.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained pending further enquiries and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The search coincided with a hastily cancelled press conference, which was due to take place at 2.30pm at Kirkcaldy Police Station and was to include an appeal from Libbi’s mum, Judi.

It was cancelled due to a “significant development” in the search.

Fife Police released a statement last night. It said: “We can confirm that a body has sadly been found during the search for missing teenager, Libbi Toledo, in Kirkcaldy.
