Perth city centre has been dealt another jobs blow, with High Street confectioner Thorntons confirming it will close its Fair City store in April.
Bosses say they are trying to find other work for the shop’s eight employees.
It comes just days after Pizza Hut announced the sudden closure of its branch on nearby South Street.
A spokesman for Thorntons confirmed the last day of trading will be April 27.
He suggested that customers could visit the company’s nearest branch in Dundee, more than 20 miles away, or order from Thorntons’ website.
“Like any retailer, we are continually reviewing our store estate to ensure we are in the locations that meet our customers’ needs,” he said.
“As a result of such a review, the decision was taken to close the store in Perth.”
