Ayr United have revealed a £150k bid for Lawrence Shankland has been turned down.
Dundee have been widely linked with the Championship hotshot who has already netted nine times this campaign.
The club who made the six-figure bid is from England but has not been identified.
It was previously reported any side who would want to acquire the 22-year-old’s services would have to stump up at least £250k, with add-ons.
A statement from the Honest Men today read: “To pre-empt any speculation in the media we can confirm that we have today received a bid of £150k from a club south of the border. Our board of directors rejected the bid.”
Manager Ian McCall added: “Lawrence remains fully committed to this club as his performance on Saturday showed. He is contracted to Ayr United football club.”
Neil McCann, who refused to address speculation around Shankland directly, previously said: “There are lots of good strikers going about in Scotland but generally they are hard to get away from clubs. These boys you admire and we’re all fishing in the same pond.”
