Ayr United boss Ian McCall has said it would take a “significant transfer fee with add-ons” to prise Lawrence Shankland away from Somerset Park.
Dundee have been linked with a move for the striker who has already netted seven times in the Betfred Cup with two hat tricks.
The Dark Blues have moved to strengthen their attack today by signing Adil Nabi on a short term deal but the 22-year-old could give Neil McCann another string to his bow.
A reported price tag of around £250k has been slapped on the hot shot.
However, should any club gain the services of the former Aberdeen and St Mirren attacker they will first have to stump up serious cash, according to McCall.
Today the Honest Men issued a statement confirming the club had been contacted by sides in England as well as in the SPFL in regards to Shankland’s services.
The Ayr gaffer said: “It would be wrong of me to mention clubs names however we have had a number of enquiries about Lawrence from north and south of the border.
“All of these clubs have been informed that we would be extremely reluctant sellers and that it would take a significant transfer fee with a number of add-ons for us even to consider it.
“As everyone can see by his form Lawrence is fully committed to Ayr United and thoroughly enjoying his football. Personally I am sure that he will go on to play at the top level but at this minute he is very much an Ayr United player.”
