Dundee United breezed into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with the most comfortable of 4-0 wins over Montrose.

Pavol Safranko gave the visitors the lead at Links Park with a close-range header after eight minutes.

Paul Watson nearly made it two for the Terrors on 35 minutes, seeing his header cleared off the line by Iain Campbell.

However, the Tangerines didn’t have to wait long for their second, with Callum Booth making it two with a 25-yard howitzer which crashed in off the post just before half-time.

Late on, Billy King scored with his first touch after coming off the bench on 81 minutes, volleying home fellow-sub Nicky Clark’s cross from the right.

New American midfielder Ian Harkes, making his debut, made it four with a cool finish in the second minute of stoppage time, stroking home a Paul McMullan cutback from the left flank.

United go into the hat for the next round.
