Dundee fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Cappielow which sees them drop to sixth in the Championship table.
James McPake opted for the same Dundee team which beat Alloa 2-1 at Dens Park last Saturday, with new signing Graham Dorrans having to make do with a place on the bench.
The hosts enjoyed the best of the early action in Greenock but the Dark Blues had the best chances in the first 45 with both captain Paul McGowan and star man Declan McDaid going close.
However, it was the Ton who took the lead on the stroke of half time when Peter Grant met a Nicky Cadden free-kick with a powerful header to give Jack Hamilton no chance in the Dee goal.
In the second half, Dundee rang the changes early with Andrew Nelson replacing Josh McPake at half-time, Dorrans coming on for Shaun Byrne to make his debut on 56 minutes and Danny Johnson making way for Kane Hemmings on the hour mark.
However, despite chances for Nelson and others, the Dark Blues huffed and puffed throughout the second half on their way to a disappointing defeat.
