A man was left hurt and required hospital treatment after a hit-and-run on the A92.
A grey Citroen Xsara and a white vehicle were involved in the Fife smash.
The driver of the Citroen had to be freed from his vehicle after becoming trapped. He suffered a back injury and was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment.
A stretch of the road, near the Lochgelly junction, was closed for around 90 minutes because of the incident.
Officers are now looking to track down the other driver who fled the scene before the emergency services arrived.
Police have appealed for the driver of the white car or any witnesses to contact them.
Inspector Ian Flynn said: “A man was injured in this collision and we would like to hear from anyone who saw it and who has information that can assist us with our investigation.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 0596 of the 29th May.”
