A Dundee resident has contacted the Evening Telegraph to speak of their disgust over inconsiderate dog walkers in cemeteries
The reader said his wife was upset to see two owners allowing dogs to run across several graves, as she visited her parents’ headstone.
The man, who gave his name as DWB, said: “What does it take for dog walkers to follow the rules in Balgay Cemetery, especially at the north entrance?
“A young woman got out of her car with her dog on its lead, as the noticeboards inform that all dogs should be.
“This lady then walked her dog on to the path alongside the graves, where the rules for her and her precious pooch seemed to change.
“Off came the lead and she proceeded to throw a ball out of one of those assisted throwers, resulting in the dog roaming among the gravestones.
“My wife was attending her parents’ grave and was most upset to witness this – and it’s not for the first time either.
“This was on Monday at around 2.20pm. Lo and behold, five minutes later, a man did exactly the same thing.
“I remonstrated with him but he chose to pretend he didn’t hear due to the red woolly hat covering his ears.
“I ask myself, what is it with these people?
“They have little respect for the dead and less for the relatives who should feel some peace and comfort while attending the graves of loved ones.
“To me, it also shows a lack of respect in their own dignity and integrity.
“I would like to state that I’m not writing about all dog owners. I know there are a lot of responsible owners but suffice to say it’s an everyday event in Balgay Cemetery.
“Is it not time to ban all dogs from cemeteries?”
