SSE has confirmed has confirmed the incident has caused a widespread loss of power in the area and has listed the areas affected.
The company said in a statement: “We’re sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed. Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.”
Restoration is expected at 11.30am.
A police spokesman said that the vehicle was occupied by a female who was shaken but not injured.
A police statement said: “Diversions are in place and engineers are en route to repair the damage as soon as possible.”
The area is said to be heavily congested as a result.

“Take the back roads around it because you’re going nowhere.”
Traffic Scotland tweeted at 8.38am that the road was expected to be closed for up to 45 minutes.
