Witnesses are being urged to come forward after a man was “taken unwell” following a disturbance in Greenock.
A 64-year-old man was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital on Saturday after a disturbance, which involved another man in his 20s on Custom House Way at around 1.55pm.
Police do not believe there was physical contact between the two and the older man was taken unwell for medical reasons, but hope to trace the younger man and have asked that other witnesses contact them.
The victim is currently in a serious but stable condition.
The younger man is described as being in his mid to late 20s, of slim build, around 5ft 10in in height and wearing a grey top.
Detective inspector David Wagstaff said: “We’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to come forward.
“In particular, we are appealing to the second man involved to get in touch with officers as soon as possible.”
Witnesses are asked to contact 101, quoting the reference number 1820 of September 26.
