A man suffered a broken hip when he was attacked after he asked a woman to move her car.
The 64-year-old was assaulted by another man who came up and punched him after he asked the woman to move her car, a purple Skoda, which was blocking a driveway.
The incident happened in East Road car park, across from an Aldi in Irvine, North Ayrshire, at around 1.30pm on Monday June 1.
Police said the victim was taken to University Hospital Crosshouse in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, with a broken hip.
They are treating the incident in Ayrshire as serious assault and have appealed for information.
Detective Sergeant Peter Sweeney, of Saltcoats CID, said: “We’re appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to contact us.
“Similarly anyone who was travelling along East Road around 1.30pm on Monday and has dash cam footage, please contact us.”
The suspect is believed to be in his 50s.
