Falkirk moved top of Ladbrokes League One with a 2-0 win at Forfar, who slipped to the bottom of the table.
Mark Durnan opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark and a late Michael Travis own goal saw the visitors leapfrog Raith Rovers and East Fife, who both lost.
Lowly Peterhead shocked Raith with goals from Jack Leitch 10 minutes before half-time and Gary Fraser in the 74th minute, before Rovers had Iain Davidson sent off.
Graham Webster earned Montrose the points at East Fife and Airdrieonians’ win over Dumbarton meant the top four were covered by just two points at the end of the day.
Calum Gallagher’s first-minute goal was cancelled out a quarter of an hour later by Reghan Tumilty, but Dale Carrick struck twice before half-time to put Airdrie in control.
Stranraer hammered Clyde 3-0 in the day’s other game. Adam Cummins scored early on, Scott Robertson added a second before half-time and Mark Stewart’s late penalty completed the scoring.
