Firefighters battled a huge blaze at a Dundee scrapyard which was visible for miles.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident in the Baldovie area at around 9.20pm.
A number of fire crews were called to the yard on Forties Road.
Police were also in attendance with the road outside the property cordoned off.
One eyewitness told the Tele: “The scene is mad. There are cracking and banging noises and all the cars are popping.
“The owner of the yard has just turned up and been allowed past the police road block.”
A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “We received a call at 9.19pm and we initially sent two units from Kingsway East.
“We then sent a further appliance from McAlpine Road.
“The fire was in an autobreakers – it was 100m by 75m – 40% of the scrap yard was well alight.
“We used three main jets to bring the blaze under control.
“The last appliance left the scene and returned to the station at 2.25am.”
