Dundee United are adding another new director to their board in the shape of former Dundee City Council chief executive David Dorward.
Dorward was the council’s top civil servant for five years before taking early retirement two years ago.
Having spent a total of 43 years in various local government posts, United believe Dorward will add value business experience to the club.
A Tangerines fan for over 40 years and member of ARABtrust, he joins recently appointed local businesswoman Laura Conway as another new face on what is a changing board at Tannadice.
As well as their arrivals long-serving John Bennett last month announced he was retiring from his post.
United chairman Stephen Thompson said: “David is a great addition to our boardroom. He has vast experience in local government and brings a skill set which will help to strengthen and improve us”
He added: “I promised recently that we were looking to bring fresh faces and a new vision to the boardroom. We have already done that with the appointment of the entrepreneur Laura Conway, and David is further evidence of that progressive change.”
David Dorward said of joining the team he supports: “I am delighted to accept this invitation to join Dundee United as an Associate Director. With over forty years of service in local government, I feel that I have a wide range of skills which can be of significant benefit and add value to the club.
“There are many changes happening at Tannadice and I look forward to being part of those and to helping United to have a positive and bright future.”
