Premiership rivals Aberdeen are understood to be preparing a cut-price move for Dundee star Greg Stewart.
The Dark Blues forward, who has netted 11 goals in 41 games so far this campaign, is out of contract at the end of next season.
And the Tele understands Dons boss Derek McInnes has placed Stewart at the very top of his transfer wishlist.
The Dons have a strict budget when it comes to additions but would be willing to stretch that to land Stewart, who has been a key part of Paul Hartley’s side for the last two seasons.
However, their initial bid may well fall short of Dundee’s valuation, which in January was rumoured to be around the £400,000 mark, despite the 26-year-old only having 12 months left on his deal.
Manager Hartley is obviously keen to hang on to his prize asset. As a result, earlier this week the club offered Stewart a new deal.
We’ll have more on this story and all the latest from Dens Park in tonight’s Evening Telegraph.
