Dundee trio Scott Bain, Darren O’Dea and Kevin Holt admit they’re desperate to put the final nail in Dundee United’s coffin.
If the Tangerines fail to win this evening’s clash at Dens Park against their city rivals the long-awaited confirmation of their drop to the second tier will be confirmed.
And here are the views from the Dark Blues dressing-room ahead of the biggest City of Discovery clash in decades.
“I think we need to put everything aside tonight because it can get the best of you if you let it. We need to go out there and do what we have done before against them.
“It has earned us results before and it will do again.”
“It doesn’t matter what you are playing for a derby is always a massive fixture. But when it is a derby like this it means even more to the fans.
“For that reason the players are really looking forward to it. From a personal perspective, though, this is where we will decide where we finish.
“We have three home games on the bounce, starting tonight, to make sure we finish seventh.”
“We did speak about this before the weekend’s results. And we know it has been spoken about in the city.
“Whether this opportunity was available we would be looking to win the game anyway. But we know there will be a big support tonight and we want to produce for the fans. It will be extra special for them if we can do it.
“It’s our job after finishing in the top six to give the fans something back.
“This season has been a ‘nearly’ one. A win tonight would certainly give the fans something to shout about over the summer and for years to come.”
