The Maryfield ward of Dundee has a new councillor in the shape of SNP candidate Lynne Short.
Lynne, 46, a surveyor, took the seat for the SNP in the Maryfield by-election with 49.5% of the vote.
She defeated seven other candidates to hold the seat that was left empty after the resignation of councillor Craig Melville.
Speaking today, Lynne said: “I have had an incredible amount of support from family and friends and from the party itself. ”
A surveyor by profession, Lynne (46) was brought up in the ward and is presently also a part-time student at Dundee & Angus College studying Tourism.
She helped to run the Dundee Yes Hub during the referendum and was a core activist in the General Election.
Lynne said one of the first issues she was hoping to tackle was the problem affecting communal stairwells and closes in her ward.
