Two people have died following a flat blaze in Dundee today.
Firefighters attended a top-floor property in Park Avenue in the Stobswell area at 7am.
Witnesses on the scene described seeing fire crews carrying a woman out of the building before being given treatment on the street. A man was later seen being tended to by paramedics.
No details of the deceased will be released by officers until next of kin have been made aware.
Police have sealed off the area between Morgan Street and Albert Street.
A statement from Police Scotland read: “Emergency services received a report of a flat fire at Park Avenue in Dundee at around 7am this morning.
“A cordon was established whilst police, fire crews and ambulance attended the scene.
“Police can confirm that two people have sadly died as a result of the fire. No further details are available at this time, and next of kin have not been made aware.
“Inquiries are continuing, and a joint investigation with the Scottish Fire & Rescue service has been launched. A cordon will remain in place while inquiries continue.”
