Residents have hit out at flytippers who have dumped rubbish next to Camperdown Leisure Park.
Piles of waste including discarded furniture and household goods have been left at the park, which has been described as an ‘eyesore’.
Yvonne and Norman Morton have lived in the area for 40 years.
Yvonne, 68, said: “It’s an absolute eyesore, and attracts vermin. It really is a disgrace.
“Every time we come here there seems to be a huge mess.
“Either that or it’s the motorbikes racing about.
“It’s a real hazard to dog walkers like ourselves.
“Any time the mess is cleared up it’s only like that for a few weeks and then something else is there in its place.
“We’ve had eight dogs in the time we’ve stayed here and it’s been the same with every one when we’re walking this way.
“We used to let our dogs off the leash but we can’t anymore as there are motorbikes roaming about.”
Norman, 75, who worked at the NCR factory that used to be on the land, said: “It’s ridiculous, but nothing ever seems to get done about it. It makes you wonder what you pay your council tax for.”
Yvonne added: “Someone needs to take the land over, get a fence and lock the place up.
“Something like a theme park for kids in the area would be great.”
Dad-of-two Kevin Sellars said the mess had put him off taking his children that way.
“The area is absolutely disgraceful,” he said.
“I was walking up to the path with my children and was shocked. There are sofas, piles of rubbish. It’s just senseless dumping.
“I certainly wouldn’t want to walk back that way with my children.
“It needs to be dealt with by the council.
“With the £23m of cutbacks the council has announced, is this what we should expect, mountains of rubbish all over the city?”
A council spokesman said Fixed Penalty Notices can be issued to the culprits and the courts can be involved.
He said: “Fly-tipping is unacceptable. There’s no excuse for people to dump their rubbish in this way because there are two major recycling sites at each end of the city.
The amount of waste strewn in the park has been labelled ‘disgraceful’.
