The Tay Road Bridge was closed for 20 minutes last night after concerns were raised for the safety of a teenager.
Police were called out at 11.35pm, but within minutes the woman was traced and being supported by officers.
The Broughty Ferry lifeboat crew were dispatched to the scene as a precaution but were later stood down.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “There was an incident last night when a member of the public was reported to be on the bridge.
“A 19-year-old was traced on the bridge, which was closed as there was concerns for her safety.
“The call came into us at 11.35pm and by 11.53pm she was safely with police officers.
“They spoke with her and she was taken to Ninewells Hospital for a check-up.
“She was from the Glasgow area so she will be getting returned there from the hospital.”
