The manager of a Dundee pub which was attacked by vandals has said he has no idea why his premises were targeted.
Yobs covered the walls of the Queen Anne on City Road in white paint and smashed several of its windows.
Manager Nathan Stewart said he received a phone call today to say the pub had been vandalised.
He said: “I have no clue as to who might be responsible or why they have done this.
“It’s really sad that somebody has targeted us like this — especially because it’s a good community pub.
“Everyone in the area drinks in here and our customers have always been really loyal and supportive.
“I just don’t understand why somebody would do this.”
David Mitchell, a resident who lives in the flats above the pub, said he had heard loud banging outside at around 1am.
He said: “I just assumed it was a drunkard banging on the door until I saw the mess this morning.”
West End Councillor Fraser MacPherson slammed those responsible for the vandal attack and urged people in the area to come forward.
He said: “We’ve seen such things as graffiti tags before but this is just deliberate mess and will take quite a big effort to clean up.
“For someone to cause this level of damage must have taken some time.
“It’s a very busy area with a lot of housing nearby so I’m hoping there is a good chance somebody will have seen something.
“If any resident has seen or heard anything suspicious at all, I’d urge them to contact Police Scotland.
“I’m pleased to see the police are already on the case and making inquiries and am confident that these individuals will be found.
“I am very anxious to ensure that those responsible for this are tracked down and brought to justice.”
A pub regular, who did not want to be named, said he was shocked that the bar had fallen victim to such an attack.
He said: “I am absolutely lost for words. I go in there for a couple of pints fairly often.
“It’s close by and it is a nice little pub.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed officers are aware of the incident.
She said: “Police Scotland can confirm that we received a report of vandalism at a licensed premises in City Road, Dundee on Friday, January 22.
“Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Tayside Division on 101.”
