Goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima will be in Dundee in time to make a derby debut at Dens Park on Saturday — if international clearance is obtained in time.
Tuesday saw United confirm the Japanese international has signed until the end of the season.
Now they’ve arranged for him to be on the first available flight from the Far East.
That means if there are no travel delays Kawashima will arrive in the city on Friday.
And if clearance comes through, manager Mixu Paatelainen will consider using him in the derby.
“It is a very tight situation because the transfer window opens on the 2nd, not the first,” he said.
“But there is a chance he will play. He will arrive in good time to Dundee but it is something we will have to decide.”
Jet lag and the lack of training time with his new team-mates will be a factor in Mixu’s decision.
And it’s clear the 75 times capped 32-year-old is desperate to at last get his Tannadice career under way.
