Police are investigating “unexplained injuries” to a baby in Dundee.
Officers were first seen at a property on Dunmore Street in Kirkton on Friday evening and did not leave until late on Monday.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed today that they are working with other agencies in a bid to find out the full circumstances regarding the injuries.
She said: “Police Scotland is carrying out an investigation in relation to an infant child who sustained unexplained injuries at an address in Dunmore Street, Dundee.
“A joint investigation is being carried out along with health partners and Dundee City Council Children and Families Services.”
Most neighbours in the area today told the Tele that they had first seen police outside the house on Dunmore Street on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Three days on, a police car was still sitting outside on the main road outside.
Residents on Balgowan Avenue, which lies directly parallel to Dunmore Street, said in that period they could see an officer in a high-visibility jacket had been guarding the back door of the property.
Adam Herschell, who lives on the street, said: “It’s been really upsetting to see the cops there.
“My wife spoke to police and they said they had concerns about an incident.
“Fingers crossed the baby is okay.”
Due to the continued police presence, most believed something serious had happened.
One woman, who did not wish to be named, said: “Forensics were in there and CID were there as well on Sunday.
“There have been police in front of the house and one standing at the back door as well.
“You see them changing shifts every so often.
“I don’t know the person that lives there very well at all.”
The woman said that people in the area were “quite concerned” by the police presence, adding: “It doesn’t help that the police won’t tell us what’s happened.”
Another local woman, who lives in the area, added: “They’ve been there since Saturday, that’s when I first saw them.
“It was just police and a white van with two people that got out of it on Sunday.
“The people weren’t in police clothes, but were definitely with them.
“Since then the police have just been coming and going.
“There was a policeman in the home on Sunday and those guys from the van but I’ve not seen anything since.
“There’s a woman who lives there, but I don’t know who she is.”
