The English Premier League has gone absolutely cash crazy.
This isn’t a new thing really but this summer is like nothing ever seen before.
We’ve seen Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling go to Manchester City for more than £100 million, Liverpool spend more than £60m on Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino and Manchester United go nuts with ins and outs left, right and centre for
There’s a lot to be said for the TV revenue the English top-flight clubs receive.
Clubs across Europe must see an EPL team coming and instantly add a nought on to the end. I know I would.
Even the also-rans in the division are splashing £10-15 million on signings.
While this is all well and good it’s just not sustainable in my eyes.
One day the pot will start to run dry. It has to, surely.
What will come of the mess that’s left behind is anyone’s guess.
