It’s happened to everyone you’ve been invited to a party but when you open the wardrobe there’s nothing to wear.
But a Dundee business is looking to put an end to pre-party panic by introducing a clothing delivery service to the city which could see you get your hands on a new party frock in just hours.
The speedy delivery system, which is to be rolled out by Arkive Clothing on Seagate.
Jenna Maudlin, manager of Arkive Clothing’s girls department, said: “It’s something new to the clothing industry and the service will be enjoyed first by people in Dundee and Arbroath.”
The service, costing £75,000 is to be launched on Wednesday along with the launch of the store’s new website.
The manager claims any order made before 4pm will get to you by 6pm at the earliest, on the same day.
Jenna said: “We’ve been quietly advertising the launch for a couple of weeks now and already people are looking forward to the same day delivery. Essentially, any order made before 4pm will be sourced and wrapped up ready for delivery by 4.30pm and will be delivered to the customer’s door between 6pm and 8.30pm on the same night.
“I’m sure it will be a very popular service for everybody, but especially our female customers.
“I know myself, when it comes to the weekend and you’ve not had time to go shopping, something like this will be great to take advantage of.”
The idea of same day delivery has been experimented with before.
But according to Arkive’s owner Valy Ossman, this new system is far from a gimmick and will have a positive effect on local economy.
He said: “This is something new to Dundee and the surrounding area and I want to keep this as local as I can.
“When you keep cash circulating within the local economy, that’s when you start to see local businesses booming and that’s what I want this business to encourage.
“This is far from a gimmick it’s completely new to the clothing industry and it has started in Dundee.
“We will also be delivering the goods by electric car, so the service will have very little environmental impact.”
