A film shot entirely in Perth, Dundee and Angus looks set to be screened at the Las Vegas Film Festival.
Time Teens The Beginning, the cast of which is entirely made up of Tayside acting talent, with the director being Forfar’s Ryan Dewar, premiered at a packed Perth Playhouse cinema before going on a week’s run there.
It is also likely to be shown at various world film festivals, with Ryan intimating there is significant interest from those in charge of the Las Vegas festival.
And the film looks like being the first of a number to be made in the Perth area.
Perth’s Ian Grieve, who has many stage and TV acting credits to his name, and whose Baudelaire Productions, along with Dreamcastle Films, have produced the two-hour long feature, announced at the end of the premiere the film is just the start of what he described as “the Perthshire film industry,” an indication of the desire to make the area a film industry location must.
Time Teens The Beginning was shot over a period of two years and also stars other well-known Tayside actors such as Amanda Beveridge, Andy Gray, Liam Brennan, Tom McGovern, Emily Winter, Ralph Riach, Richard Addison, Helen Mackay, Michele Gallagher, Irene MacDougall, Anne Kidd, Anne Louise Ross, Jo Freer, Mark Beveridge and Angela Morris.
It’s a time travelling tale, with the filming including a scene shot on the roof of Dundee Rep.
Ian explained: “We wanted to film a scene which involved an actor being up on the Rep roof with a sniper’s gun. That involved getting permission from the police and they agreed.”
The film is set against stunning shots of Perth, Dundee and Angus and is the fruition of a lot of hard work.
Ian continued: “No one has done this sort of thing in our part of the world and, by doing so, we have proved a film industry does exist up here.”
