A Dundee mum of two young children has been found dead aged just 21.
Demi Smith died suddenly at an address on Ballantrae Gardens, where she is believed to have lived.
Emergency services were called to the property at around 3am on Sunday.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious, but neighbours have spoken of their shock at the loss of a “devoted mum”.
Demi’s employer, Balhousie Care, also paid tribute to her in a statement.
A spokeswoman said: “We are saddened and shocked to hear about the passing of Demi.
“Demi was a very popular member of our care team who will be sadly missed.
“She was a much-loved and valued care assistant, gaining respect from residents, relative and colleagues from within the home.
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to Demi’s family and friends, in particular her two young children.
“We will do our very best to support her colleagues at this difficult time.”
Demi worked at Moyness Care Home and before that at Clement Park. She had been at work as recently as Saturday.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland’s Tayside Division said: “Police Scotland can confirm that officers attended an address in Ballantrae Gardens, Dundee, following a report of the sudden death of a 21-year-old woman.
“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
An ambulance also attended but nobody was taken to hospital.
Neighbour Betty McLeod said she could hardly believe the news.
“This is so sad,” she said. “When my daughter came to visit me on Saturday afternoon, around 2pm, she saw Demi.
“Then, when I woke up at 7am on Sunday morning, there were policemen outside her house and I asked them what had happened.
“I couldn’t believe it when they told me she had died.”
Mrs McLeod added: “She was a quiet girl, kept herself to herself and just seemed to go quietly about her business. She obviously doted on her children she was always with them and seemed a really devoted mum.
“She would say hello to me and pass the time of day, and would keep me up-to-date with what her children were doing.”
