Weather warnings in place for Tayside

Summer seems well and truly over this morning as wind and rain batter the region.

Dundee and Angus and Tayside have been put under flood alert by SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency), which Perth and Kinross and Angus have a yellow warning for heavy rain in place.

The SEPA website said: “Flooding of low lying land and roads from small watercourses and rapidly responding rivers is possible. The intensity of the rain may at times also cause some surface water flooding to the transport network and other low lying areas.”

And the Met Office warned: “An area of heavy rain, accompanied by strong to gale force winds, will move eastwards across Scotland on Sunday night and Monday. The rain will continue into Monday evening in the northeast though winds will ease, while drier weather will spread into the west of the warning area.”

The A916 between Cupar and Leven was blocked by a falling tree at Ceres during rush hour this morning.
