Part of a major Aberdeen road was blocked off today following an underground explosion.
Emergency services were called to Auchmill Road at 6.05am following the incident.
It was believed the explosion was caused by an electrical fault. One fire engine was in attendance.
A Police Scotland spokesman said both Aberdeen City Council and BEAR Scotland had been advised of the problem.
Scottish and Southern Energy are also at the scene to assist with the clear-up.
Traffic problems were expected throughout the day as a result of a section of the citybound lane being blocked off.
The police spokesman said: “There will be delays, but we expect the road moving.
“It could take a good part of the day before everything is clear.
“It couldn’t have happened at a worse time with the traffic building up in the area.”
