Lifeboats launched in search for child missing at St Andrews

A search was launched for a missing child in St Andrews this afternoon.

Police requested help from the coastguard to search for the youngster in the West Sands area, with both lifeboats from Broughty Ferry also launched.

A spokesman for the Broughty Ferry lifeboats said that both boats had been launched at about 3.30pm.

He said: “They were launched after reports of a missing child at West Sands in St Andrews.

“The call came to us from the coastguard, after assistance was requested from police.”

UPDATE: A Police Scotland official confirmed that the three-year-old child had been found.
