Dundee was on the receiving end of downpours today as thundery showers hit the area.
Dark clouds passed over the city causing brief spells of torrential rain, which is set to continue into the night. Some of the showers produced flashes of thunder and lightning.
A Met Office forecaster said that the weather was a ‘one-off’ and predicted their still might be some more ‘excitement’ to come throughout the night.
He said: “Dundee can still expect a couple more heavy downpours tonight with the odd rumble of thunder.
“There have been a few flashes of lightning so far throughout Tayside, northern Fife and Perth.
Despite the dark clouds’ threatening appearance, the forecaster said downpours are only expected to last a few minutes.
“The rain is expected to continue into this evening though the downpours won’t last long. It will pour down for about five minutes at a time.
“Today has been a one-off and we still might get some more excitement tonight.
“The rest of the week is predicted to be warm and drier.
“Tomorrow is set to be a nice day, the best day of the week.”
