Willie Dyer is set to be the latest player to commit his future to Dundee.
The left-back, one of the Dark Blues’ form men under Paul Hartley, has been offered a new two-year deal at Dens.
And he is expected this week to put pen to paper on the contract, which will see him commit to top-flight football next season.
Dyer looked as though he might be out the door at the turn of the year after an unconvincing start to life at the club.
Despite beginning the campaign in John Brown’s starting XI, injury and a loss of form saw him become a peripheral figure. But he returned to the side after a five-month absence for the ill-fated 2-0 loss at title rivals Falkirk in February, the game which all but saw the end of Bomber’s tenure in charge.
Since then, he’s never looked back, becoming a key player under Paul Hartley.
And it was that form towards the end of the Championship-winning season that has seen him rewarded with the offer of a deal, which, as is expected, he will sign this week.
The 27-year-old, signed on a free from Morton last summer, will be the second of the Dark Blues title-winning squad to commit their future to the club.
Last week, youngster Cammy Kerr also signed a new two-year deal at Dens.
Meanwhile, the club have confirmed their second pre-season game this summer.
On July 22 (7.45pm kick-off), recently- relegated Hearts will visit Dens Park.
The game comes nine days after English Premier League champions Manchester City are set to visit the City of Discovery for a glamour friendly.
The visit of the Jambos and Citizens is expected to complete the club’s home friendly programme.
But negotiations are still taking place to secure a number of other away friendlies, many of which may be firmed up this week. It’s thought a summer training camp and also a couple of local friendlies are high on the agenda.
