Robert Finlay spends his days mining for gold but now he’s dreaming of seeing his childhood friend lift silver.
Robert is flying all the way from his home in Yanchep, north of Perth in Western Australia, to watch Stevie May and his fellow Saints at Celtic Park.
He works in an underground gold mine, but is hoping his old mate Stevie has his own personal golden moment on Saturday.
“I have followed St Johnstone as long as I can remember,” Robert said.
“I was a season ticket holder with my father and a Junior Saint, as well as being fortunate enough to see them in two of their European football campaigns, watching them against Monaco and Rosenborg.”
He says distance couldn’t stop him from going, adding: “I couldn’t miss this match for the world, not only because Stevie is playing, but also the fact it’s our first Scottish Cup Final, a monumental occasion. It’s great that up to 15,000 people will be there supporting St Johnstone and there are others worldwide who will be tuning in to the game.”
