It’s his testimonial year, so the timing of St Johnstone’s first Scottish Cup Final is superb for Steven Anderson.
And the game is against the team Saints signed him from, Dundee United.
Although many fans feared the worst when the Perth men went down 1-0 to Aberdeen in Sunday’s semi, Anderson knew his team had the ability to battle back and win.
He said: “At Kilmarnock the previous week, we were one down early but fought back to win 2-1 with me getting the winner.
“So that’s two weeks on the bounce we’ve hit back from the loss of an early goal to win.”
Since John Connolly brought Anderson to the club, the defender has seen a lot.
“We’ve been promoted to the SPL, won the Challenge Cup, been in various semi-finals, played in the Europa League and finished third in the SPL.
“This is the third season in a row we have been a top-six team and now we’re in the Scottish Cup Final.
“I’m thoroughly enjoying myself and, with five league games still to play, we can improve on our sixth position.
“Then it’s the cup final and my testimonial year activities are taking shape. What a great year.”
