Fife councillor Tim Brett said he was “very pleased” a major road improvement scheme has got under way in Main Street, Leuchars.
Mr Brett, who was joined by the vice-chairman of Leuchars Community Council Mark Sharp, said: “I’m delighted this work is taking place as it’s been an issue for residents for a number of years now.
“When buses and heavy vehicles go past the houses vibrate.
“I’m therefore hopeful that this will help resolve the problem.”
The works, which started on Monday, began at the turning circle by The Croft and along Main Street’s entire length to the Leuchars north-west limits.
Works will continue along the main A919 route to St Michaels and terminate at the St Michaels north-west limit on the A914.
It is expected works will take approximately six weeks.
Temporary traffic lights and convoy working will be used during the works.
Local closures will be required on Main Street in the first two to three weeks but with minimal planned local diversions.
