Dundee boss John Brown will consider his options before strengthening his squad in the January transfer window.
Bomber has now been given the go-ahead by the board to add two or three players, and both Christian Nade and Lee Mair remain strong possibilities.
But with his team already at the top of the Championship, he will take a little more time to make sure he gets the quality he wants.
“I’ve been speaking to people and I’ve had a list of players for a while now,” he said.
“Now it’s a matter of speaking to them and clubs and seeing what we can do and I don’t see anyone coming in over the next couple of days or so.”
Former Hearts man Nade is a free agent and, although he’s impressed in training at Dens, Bomber wants a longer look at him.
With Mair it could come down to the type of deal being offered Dundee want him on loan but he wants a permanent move.
“Nade’s looked fine but we’ve only had him for a few days and that’s not enough to gauge his fitness.
“Some of the other names being linked are right but it’s about the contract they want and we’ve also got other options.
“I’ve a few trialists lined up and they should be arriving at the start of next week.”
There has been a fitness blow with the news wide-man Nicky Riley is set to be sidelined for two weeks with a calf problem he picked up in the 3-1 home win over Dumbarton at Dens Park on December 28.
The club’s medical staff believe he will miss the home games against Livingston on Saturday and Hamilton the following week but Bomber confirmed Riley has a chance of being back involved when the Dark Blues go to Falkirk at the end of the month.
He said: “He’ll only be a couple of weeks. Nicky tweaked his calf.”
Kyle Letheren, who was rushed to hospital with concussion at Kirkcaldy, has a chance of making Saturday.
“Kyle still has a headache so, until that goes away, he’ll be a doubt,” said Bomber.
“We’ll just have to wait and see how he is. But Dan Twardzik is back from Motherwell, where he did very well. And John Gibson did very well for us, too, when he came on.”
