A teenager has said she is set for life after winning £1 million with her first-ever lottery ticket.
Jane Park, 17, from Midlothian, is one of Scotland’s youngest lottery winners, scooping one of 100 £1 million prizes in the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle last Friday.
The Hibs fan plans to dip into her winnings and buy a season ticket to watch her team, a shopping spree and a holiday to Ibiza with her friends.
But she said she will have to “wait and see” whether she will donate any money to the club, or even to their cash-strapped rivals Hearts.
Jane ultimately hopes to buy a customised white Range Rover with a pink interior but will settle for something “more sensible” until she becomes a more confident driver.
She also intends to keep her job as a membership development assistant with the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations for the time being.
“I had to phone Camelot to confirm my ticket win. It was such a shock. I still didn’t believe it even though it had been verified. It was such a shock,” she said.
“I’m going to keep my job on. It’s only a nine-month job and they’re going to keep me on for another six months, so I feel like I have to give my thanks back to them.
“I’m still getting over the win so I don’t know how I’m going to spend the money yet. I want to pass my driving test and get a car. My dream car is a white Range Rover but it’s a big car for a girl my age so maybe I’ll start with something smaller and more sensible.
“I also want to go on a big shopping spree and go on holiday with my friends.
“Although my family and friends believed me, they almost couldn’t believe it was true. They thought it was too much of a dream as well. They’re still in shock.
“I think it will change my lifestyle but I don’t think it will change me. I think I will still be the same person that I have been for the past 17 years.
Jane added: “I can definitely buy a house, a car and go on holidays without having to worry about paying bills. I think that’s the most important thing. I also sets me up for the future so if I want to have a kid, I don’t have to worry that I don’t have the right money to bring a kid into the family.”
