Arizona restaurant owners claim hackers took over their Facebook after meltdown

An American couple who faced a torrent of online ridicule and abuse following an appearance on a TV show have claimed they were the victim of hackers.

Samy and Amy Bouzalgo, owners of Amy’s Baking Company, were so hapless that TV chef Gordon Ramsay abandoned his effort to help save their business on his show, Kitchen Nightmares.

After the show aired in the US on May 10, the couple faced a barrage of criticism on the business’s Facebook page.

However, instead of turning the other cheek, the couple allegedly attempted to fight back, calling commenters names and .

And yesterday, the offending posts were removed, and were replaced with a message claiming that their social media accounts had been hacked.

It read: “Obviously our Facebook, YELP, Twitter and Website have been hacked. We are working with local authorities as well as the FBI computer crimes unit to ensure this does not happen again. We did not post those horrible things. Thank You Amy &Samy.”

Among the behaviour that spurred the comments was a waitress being fired for asking a question, accusations that the owners were keeping staff members’ tips and hostility towards Ramsay, who finally walked out after declaring he couldn’t help thm.
