St Johnstone face Celtic at home tonight without the injured Dave Mackay and Chris Millar and probably minus the injured Murray Davidson as well.
Mackay and Millar have missed out the last few weeks with calf and groin injuries respectively, while Davidson was taken off early against Ross County due to a recurrence of his ankle injury.
Saints three latest loan signings, Mehdi Abeid, Michael Doughty and Gwion Edwards will be in the squad with Abeid, on loan from Newcastle, set to get his third start, having also faced Hibs and Ross County.
The highly-regarded former Lens player has been loaned to Saints to give him first-team experience and the McDiarmid Park side’s boss Steve Lomas said: “This is a great opportunity for the lad.”
“Guys like Mehdi, Michael and Gwion come on loan to clubs like Saints to get the chance to face teams like Celtic and tonight’s fixture won’t faze Mehdi.
“I will have no qualms about playing any of the three of them tonight.
“I would love to have a full squad to choose from but I don’t. We just have to get on with it.
“We all know how tough a game this will be and three games in a week means the squad get really tested.
“But we’re up for it and looking forward to pitting ourselves against Celtic.”
