St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas is delighted that no last-minute move was made in the transfer window for midfield man Murray Davidson.
There was a great deal of speculation about his future but now he will remain with the Perth club until the end of the season.
His contract runs out then and, as he has rejected a new one, he looks set to move on.
“There was that thought that somebody might come in for Murray in the January transfer window but they didn’t and I’m delighted,” said Steve.
“He was excellent for us in October and November and I’m hoping he can replicate that form until the end of the season.
“With the loan signings of Gwion Edwards from Swansea and Mehdi Abied from Newcastle, there is more competition for midfield places and Murray will be in there battling for a regular place.”
The former Livingston man is recovering from an ankle injury and Saints are hoping he’ll be fit enough to resume away to Hibs at Easter Road on Monday night.
