Now that the fundraising has come to an end and Madison Barclay has had her trip to Disneyland Paris, plus a couple of others, I would like to thank every single person who made this possible.
We have also been able to help other kids and the children’s ward at Ninewells due to the fantastic support given by all.
We managed to raise £18,000 and this has also helped so many others.
I’d like to make a special thanks to Lyndsey Kelly who helped me from day one and to Bryan Wylie from the housing dept for all his assistance and also Councillor Tom Ferguson for all his help.
Also to staff and customers at the Rock Bar, pupils of Gowriehill, St Ninian’s and St John’s and Menzieshill High, as well as all the local bands who gave up so much time as did the staff at Tesco South Road.
Finally to all the kids who walked the Tay Road Bridge in the pouring rain.
Thanks to all of you a wee girl’s dream came true.
There are too many who helped to mention, but you know who you are. Tam McGeary, janitor Gowriehill Primary School.
Will working class benefit?
All this talk of referendums has left me wondering how any move to Scottish independence will benefit the working classes.
For example, will it help the unemployed get a job, and will it help to look after our pensioners?
All this — and more — the ordinary man in the street needs to know before he can make an informed decision and, as things stand, I feel we just don’t
know enough about it. —Jimmy Borland.
It’s a safe city
Recent events in Dundee would lead you to think we were living in some lawless part of the world, with stabbings, deaths and robberies hitting the headlines on an almost daily basis.
However, it is important that we understand there is a reason why they make the headlines — and such big headlines.
That is because they are rare events in a city that doesn’t have a major crime problem.
That in many ways is down to the hard work of the men and women of Tayside Police who do such a great job in keeping our city safe.
So amid all the bad news, let’s remember those bobbies on the beat.
They are the folk who are doing a great job keeping hooligans off the street. — Mary Inglis.
Why we must back Games
As the Olympics approach, I am starting to get sick of those folk who keep moaning that they are England’s games and have nothing to do with Scotland.
We should be celebrating this event and the fact that so many sporting icons will be heading to these shores.
And if anything we should be using this as a springboard to get more of our obese kids involved in sport. Ian Smith, Birkhill
Sorry to see Andrew go
I was sorry to see the entertaining Andrew Stone being the first to be booted off Celebrity Big Brother.
The Pineapple Dance Studios star reckons he’s made for TV and possesses a triple threat — he can sing, dance and act (apparently).
Personally, I find his comical delusions quite endearing. He’ll never be a big star, but everyone loves a trier. Fintry Factor.
Team wants new Raptors
