Claims damaging pupils’ reputation
It is disappointing that letter writer Lisa Campbell tried to link the appalling recent attack on two women in Baxter Park with the Morgan Academy sixth-year dance.
The Morgan dance was held at the Woodlands Hotel in Broughty Ferry and not at the school.

It is a shame for the good name of senior pupils from the Morgan to be slurred with the actions of, as yet, unidentified thugs.— Ms K. Young.

Miles away
I wish to repudiate the headline letter in the Tele on Thursday.
The factual truth is that Morgan Academy’s sixth-year dance was held in the Woodlands Hotel, Broughty Ferry, which is several miles away from Baxter Park.

This is not the first time people have publicly maligned the good name of the schools in the Stobswell area, nor is it the first time they have maligned the residents or the people who go to Baxter Park.

As ward councillor for Baxter Park and now Maryfield, I am getting exceedingly angry.

Over the 12 years of my tenure, the residents of the Stobswell area have worked together to regenerate and restore not only the park, but also the community spirit of the Stobswell area

If some people find it so abhorrent to live in this area then, for goodness sake, let them move away. — Councillor Elizabeth Fordyce.

Doorstep drop delight
The Discovery Food Programme provides emergency food relief to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship in Dundee, and do so alongside a team of local people committed to achieving this aim.
In 2010, we provided groceries and support to over 4400 men, women and children and our numbers are increasing this year.

Poverty relents for no individual and tackling such an issue cannot be done alone.

The vast majority of non-perishable foods we receive emerge from partnerships we have with faith organisations (churches, mosques etc.), council departments (welfare rights, social work etc.) and small community groups.

Occasionally, we receive contributions from unknown and unsung heroes and our volunteers would like to express their tremendous gratitude to the individual who recently left groceries on our doorstep in Hilltown, without alerting us.

On behalf of the people of Dundee who will benefit from your generosity, we wish to thank you. — Ewan, DFP.

Where are the wardens when you need them?
Can anyone tell me how I can get a traffic warden to regularly patrol my street?
I live in Canning Place and, even though there is a traffic warden that regularly patrols Strathmartine Road and even comes down Canning Street, they never ever come into this street — even though it has double yellow lines all the way round.

I think there should be a regular patrol and not just a one-off because the parking situation in this street is getting horrendous.

There are cars parked on double yellow lines all round this street, with some people — despite having drives — insisting on parking on these yellow lines meaning that anyone exiting the street has to do so on the wrong side of the road.

There has been quite a few near-accidents recently with cars coming into the street at speed.

With many disabled people, elderly and children in this street, I think it’s only a matter of time before there is a serious accident.

I am especially concerned for the children because the schools are off now for the summer holidays and they will be out all the time.

I think an accident is inevitable, since we all know how much attention kids give to traffic. — Resident.

Great shows
My wife and I attended a school concert at Sidlawview put on by primaries 1 to 7 and, although it was free, I would have paid to see it.
Even the teachers, pupils and cleaning staff did their bit and a good time was had by all. — Maria and Jimmy Borland.
Well done
Well done to the P7s at Claypotts Castle Primary School on their wonderful performance at the leavers assembly.

You are all a credit to the school. — Proud parents.
