Attacks prove park needs more security
It was frightening to read that two women were randomly attacked by a gang of youths in Baxter Park last Friday.

More must be done to secure this area.

I know the police were aware that Morgan Academy’s dance that was on that night.

Large events such as this attract others who just want to cause grief or can’t get in because of drink.

Security must be in place in the community for occasions like these.

The police and park experts all agree.

The park needs more lighting, more wardens, more police patrols and CCTV.

Morgan Academy has all of these prevention tools so why won’t our councillors get something done for Baxter Park?

Do the mums need to sort out this mess as well? — Lisa Campbell.

Money for Dundee House was wasted
I must agree with the letter writer who said the new council buildings look much the same as the old one split in three.

Is it any wonder that people do not pay council tax when they see millions being wasted for no reason?

Surely the money could have been put to better use during these times of cutbacks by keeping people in employment, looking after old folk or repairing the roads. — Sick Council Tax Payer.

Police should have got it right
Regarding the horrific story about St Mary’s woman Lindy Robb, who had the police kick her door in at 3am.

It must have been terrifying for her and her children.

Surely in this hi-tech age, the police force can get the right address before they go heavy handed, to a house full of sleeping children. — Peter Brady, Lochee.

Not on a par
I wish to respond to Caring Parent who puts smokers and drinkers on a par with drug addicts.

Most smokers and drinkers go out to work — that’s certainly the case in my family — while at the same time paying through the nose for their habit.

I also have a distant relative who is a drug addict, never worked a day in his 45 years and has his addiction fed every day compliments of the tax payer. — Non Smoking Caring Granny.

Mums struggle
I was quite shocked at the poor attitude of some people regarding a child in a pram on a bus.

These mothers are struggling to get from A to B, and these fit, lazy people are demanding their space. It is akin to bullying or discrimination. Leave them alone! — Smokey Murray.
