As a Dundonian who lives in the city centre, I am shocked when I see the number of wheelie bins which are permanent fixtures on city pavements.
Pedestrians have to walk on the road as do women with prams just because people can’t be bothered putting their bins back in the proper recess.
Also, is Dundee Council keeping the tied up bike at the bottom of the Hilltown as a tourist attraction?
It has been there for more than three months.
Does the council have to wait until there is an accident before it takes action? — City Tenant.
Let down by council
As a West Ferry resident whose area would be blighted by the construction of the biomass power station proposed by Forth Energy, I cannot adequately put into words how disgusted and let down I feel about the decision of the council not to object outright to the proposal.
Crucially, the city council’s limp response to the Scottish Executive fails completely to recognise the visual impact of this huge ugly building and its proximity to my home and the homes of hundreds of other Dundee citizens.
No wonder ordinary people feel let down by their politicians when they behave like the SNP councillors in Dundee.
Over 3000 people have objected to this dreadful planning application, but Shona Robison, Ken Guild and their SNP colleagues apparently know better than us. These politicians are simply out of touch with their constituents. — Let Down in West Ferry.
Gulls rethink needed
After the public outcry last year regarding the so-called “gull menace” I hope Dundee Council is already considering more humane methods of dealing with the problem.
Perhaps they could consult with neighbouring councils who already manage this annual situation without resorting to such barbaric acts as battering a gull chick to death.
Somehow, this action does not really fit in with the image of a progressive city of culture which the council is trying to promote. — M4Birds.
thletes should get into Olympia for free
As a friend of someone who is training for the Special Olympics, I find it absolutely shocking that she has to pay to use the facilities at the Olympia.
Her family has struggled to pay for her to get to the games in Athens.
Our government will not fund our finest athletes but will spend an absolute fortune on preparing London for the 2012 games.
I hope someone from the council or Olympia reads this and feels ashamed. — Bryan Ross, Craigiebank, Dundee.
Clamped car
I was glad to read in the Tele about police stopping illegal red diesel users and uninsured cars.
Can I ask when they are going to either clamp or remove the untaxed and uninsured car I reported weeks ago (the excuse it can take three weeks to trace a car is feeble)?
Do any other readers have this problem too? — A Fully Paid Up Car User.
