Houstie in race against time to sign Dutch defender
Dundee United boss Peter Houston hopes to add young Ajax defender Timothy van der Meulen to his injury-ravaged squad before the transfer window slams shut tonight (writes Sean Hamilton).
The 20-year-old Dutchman has impressed on trial at Tannadice and the race is now on to iron out a deal before the midnight transfer deadline.

Dens boss happy as deadline approaches

Having beaten Hearts at Tynecastle 1-0 recently in the Scottish Cup, and drawn 1-1 with them in the league on the first day of the season, St Johnstone headed for Tynecastle confident of further success (writes James Masson).
