Zoe jumps for joy after getting the trampoline.

Two Dundee youngsters whose trampoline was slashed by vandals were “over the moon” today after being presented with a new one by a local business.
Owners of Dundee Tech Repair stepped in to replace it after being touched when reading about the Fordyce family’s plight in the Tele.

Dad Alistair said the crime in the back garden of their Douglas home earlier this month had left his children, Owen (9) and Zoe (6), devastated.

Both kids attend Cragiebarns Primary and would regularly invite their friends around to play on the trampoline before the senseless act.

Following today’s presentation at the computer repair shop on Milne’s East Wynd, supermarket worker Alistair said the gesture had “reaffirmed his faith in human beings”.

He added, “I can’t thank them enough.

“To think there were people prepared to spend their own money and go to these lengths is incredible.

“If they hadn’t stepped in I probably wouldn’t have been able to replace it.

“It is such a kind gesture.

“Zoe and Owen both used the trampoline nearly every day and this will make them so happy.”

Dundee Tech Repair has only been trading for two months and is the first venture for 21-year-old co-owner Dylan Williamson, who spotted the story in the paper.

The new trampoline is 12ft in diameter and comes with a new net as the previous one was also cut by the vandals.

Dylan said, “I just thought it was such a shame because the wee girl looked so sad.

“I spoke to my business partner and we both decided we would like to do something to help.

“We wanted to buy her a new trampoline because the other one got slashed and it seemed like something nice to do, and I know I would have been gutted if it happened to me.

“If somebody had bought me a new trampoline when I was that age I would have been delighted.”

The family had several other offers of help from members of the public, who contacted Tayside Police to offer to replace the trampoline.
