| Peter Marshall (54), of Menzieshill, said the raids took place overnight on Sunday, with the first allotment holder arriving on Monday morning to a scene of destruction.
The thieves were forced to make off empty-handed after discovering the allotment holders weren’t storing valuables on-site.
“Obviously there’s a lot of sadness that this has occurred, especially when you consider in the short time the allotment has been open around 80-odd people are getting a benefit from it,” Mr Marshall said.
“We were well aware of the problems other allotment sites have had, so the decision not to store valuables was made very clear to everyone.
“The thieves pulled the doors off three sheds and there are screwdriver marks on them where that’s happened. I suppose it was inevitable that we’d get some of these nocturnal visits, and I suppose it’s inevitable we’ll get more.
“We’re determined there’ll never be anything worth stealing left here overnight, though.”
Late last month, nine sheds were targeted at the city’s West Law allotments and items such as binoculars, tools and gardening equipment were taken.
Police said a community officer had visited South Law allotments and advised the gardeners on safety.
