Finishing adjustments are made to the main stage.

With only a day until the first notes are played at T in the Park 2010, final preparations are under way to ensure this year’s festival is the biggest and best yet (writes Alan Wilson).
Contractors have been on site over the past couple of weeks, building stages and erecting the massive tents at Balado, which is ready for the invasion of 85,000 fans aiming to party the whole weekend.

The first of 60,000 campers were arriving at the campsite today, turning the area into the equivalent of Scotland’s fifth biggest city.

Event manager Colin Rodger, of T organisers DF Concerts, said, “Preparations on site are well under way and we’re on course for making sure this is the best T in the Park yet.

“The tent and stage structures have been going up since last week and I can’t wait for all the great performances that are going to take place on them this weekend.

“Today sees the arrival of the first campers who will kick-start the party early and we’re also excited about the new Citizen T initiative. It’s set to be a great weekend.”

The Citizen T initiative aims to encourage revellers to be good citizens while at the event, disposing of litter properly, taking tents home and looking out for friends and fellow campers.
