Keep your celebs, I’m off to the final
GMTV presenter Lorraine Kelly has passed up sipping cosmopolitans with the stars of Sex And The City in Manhattan — in favour of a pie and Bovril at the Scottish Cup final (writes Lisa Trainer).
The chat show host was invited to fly to New York to interview Sarah Jessica Parker and the rest of the cast as part of a promotion for their new film release.

However, the date coincided with Dundee United’s clash with Ross County on Saturday — their first cup final since 2005.

Lorraine (50), who is an avid supporter of the Tangerines, said there was “no choice” between interviewing big-name stars and attending the game.

“I’ve been asked to go to New York and see the new Sex and the City film and interview all the stars.

“Sounds amazing, but there’s a snag. It’s next weekend and clashes with Scottish Cup final and my team Dundee United are playing Ross County!

“For me there’s no choice. It has to be a pie and Bovril at the footie final instead of a cocktail in Manhattan.”

The presenter, who regularly attends Dundee United games, described it as a “dilemma” turning down Parker and fellow stars Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

“There’s simply no way I would miss such a big football occasion,” she said.

She said she hoped it would be a cracking game and a great day out for fans of both teams.

A civic reception will be held in Dundee if United can win the cup and the council plans to hold an open-top bus journey for the team with the trophy.
