Man hurt in bus accident

Police taking statements at the accident scene.

Police in Dundee said a young man was lucky to escape serious injury today in an accident with a bus.
The man — described as “walking wounded” — injured his elbow in the incident at the Victoria Road junction, at the foot of the Hilltown, around10am.

The impact of the collision smashed a kerbside window of the National Express bus.

Officers said the man, who they described as being in his teens or 20s, had been “remarkably fortunate”. He was taken to Ninewells Hospital by ambulance for checks

Constable Gordon Britton said, “By all accounts he has come off the north kerb, heading towards the Wellgate Centre. They have come together as the bus was coming through the lights.”

He said the driver of the bus was shaken, but that there was “no indication” of wrongdoing on his part.

CCTV pictures will be reviewed as part of an investigation, Constable Britton added.
